Significant Parts Of Putnam County Still Affected
West Virginia American Water has lifted some of its boil water advisory for customers living in Putnam, Kanawha and Lincoln Counties.
According to a news release, the affected areas included Nitro, Route 62 from Poca to Buffalo, Route 817 from Saint Albans to Pliny, Winfield, Frazier's Bottom, Hurricane Creek Road, Route 60 from Saint Albans to Route 34, and Route 34 from Route 60 to Route 3 (including Turkey Creek, Clymer Creek and Ridges Creek).
The cause was a broken valve at a water main river crossing in Nitro.
Crews spent the weekend working to fix the problem. To complete the repairs, American Water had to shut down a 30" transmission main, which caused low water pressure or a disruption in water service to the affected area.
As of Monday morning, the precautionary boil water advisory remains in effect for customers in the St. Albans area, Rt. 60 from St. Albans to Rt. 34, Hurricane Creek Road, Rt. 34 from Rt. 60 to Rt. 3, Turkey Creek, Clymer Creek, Ridges Creek, Upper Coach, Upper Charlie's Creek, Sycamore, Winchester Drive and Sycamore Road.
Affected customers are advised to boil their water for a minimum of one minute before consumption until further notice.
