VALLEY HEALTH WELCOMES DR. SLOAN
Longtime Hurricane Doctor Joins Group
News
release
Valley Health is pleased to welcome
Dr. Clinton Sloan, internal
medicine and geriatrics
specialist, to its
Hurricane location.
Sloan, a native of Putnam County and graduate of Hurricane High School, has more than 22 years of experience practicing internal medicine and geriatrics. He earned his undergraduate education at Marshall University in Huntington and graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg in 1981.
After graduating from medical school, Sloan left West Virginia to complete his residency in internal medicine at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. The extensive training and expertise he received at this hospital amply prepared him for a career as one of West Virginia’s most trusted doctors. Sloan is also the area’s only board-certified geriatrics specialist.
After completing a three-year residency and one-year internship, Dr. Sloan returned to West Virginia to apply his medical knowledge to the problems affecting his home state. Before joining Valley Health, he held a private practice in Hurricane, where he could be near his family and make a difference in the lives of people who surrounded him during his early years.
“When I completed my residency, I moved home to begin my medical career,” Dr. Sloan recalls, “I wanted to practice where there was a definite need and be near my family again.”
Dr. Sloan’s medical interests include hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure, emphysema and diseases of the elderly. All of these are problems faced by West Virginians every day.
Dr. Sloan’s dedication to improving the quality of health care in West Virginia does not end with his work at Valley Health. He is an associate professor of medicine at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and has an active hospital practice at Thomas Memorial and CAMC Teays Valley Hospitals.
Dr. Sloan is available to patients from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday. He is also available on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Sloan, please call 304-760-6040.
