The TI-Navigator, a portable system that works with graphing calculators, provides wireless communication between the students’ calculators and the teacher’s computer. Using the Navigator, teachers are able to encourage student collaboration, monitor student work, and gauge comprehension.
With the TI-Nspire calculators, formulas, tables, and visual representations may be viewed individually or they may be linked dynamically; thus, teachers can differentiate instruction for student needs. In addition, the calculators come with an interchangeable TI-84 keyboard that allows students to use them as graphing calculators, as well.
AP teacher Audrey Boley, author of the grant, is quick to give credit to other teachers in the Winfield math department who contributed information that led to the approval of the grant. She also expressed her gratitude to Toyota Motor Manufacturing for their continued support of education.
