TAYLOR NAMED GRIDDER OF THE WEEK
Nitro High School Student-Athlete Honored

News release

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. is pleased
to present this week’s
Gridiron Gamer of the
Week
award to Alex
Taylor of Nitro High
School.

The Wildcats picked
up their first win of the
season when they
defeated Lincoln
County 46-22. Nitro put together a complete game eliminating the mistakes they had in previous games and were awarded their first victory.

The Wildcats football squad put in a lot of hard work this past week trying to get out of the winless column. They went into the game looking to do everything they could and leave it all out on the field to win. They did it with fill-in coach John Painter, who took over head coaching duties this past week due to head coach Gobel’s leg injury which kept him from being able to attend the game.

Alex Taylor's evening included a 19-carry effort for 263 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

When asked why he was successful this week Taylor says, “I went into the game with the mentality I was going to pick up as many yards as I could each time I got the ball and it paid off. During practice this week I went 100%, and we changed a few things up on offense which also helped me out a lot.”

Taylor is one of those really quick and elusive type running backs.  He compared himself to the likes of Noah Divine whenever he is on the field.

When asked about his team’s success, Taylor says, “We have eliminated the mistakes we made early in the year and are more focused than we were.” When asked what his expectations are for the rest of the season he says, “I am going to play as hard as I can, do everything I can, and try to pick up some more wins.”

Look for Taylor and other local area high school athletes to be named next week’s Gridiron Gamer of the Week sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc
