She claims to be a fiscal and political conservative-against government wasteful spending. However, some wonder if she practices what she pontificates. Once again, West Virginia Delegate Patti-Ann Eagloski-Schoen, (R-14) from Scott Depot, is staying in a Charleston hotel during the legislative session.
PutnamLIVE.com has confirmed the hotel stay in an exclusive interview with West Virginia House of Delegates Communications Director Stacey Ruckle.
"She cites a health condition and says she has verification from a doctor," says Ruckle. "She says that after a long day of sitting in committees and on the house floor that she cannot drive home. I do know for a fact that the judiciary committee which she serves on met until 9:00 last night." (March 23rd.)
According to a lawsuit
filed in 2008,
Schoen claims she "Was seriously and severely injured in her
head, neck, back, body and limbs and was rendered sick, sore, lame
and otherwise disabled," in a September, 2006 car accident.
So why was "Seriously and severely injured" Schoen able
to walk the length of the Winfield Homecoming Parade last fall? (See
photo posted above this story) And why does she feature a photo from
the Mason County Parade date-stamped August 1st, 2008 on her web
site? (See small photo posted at top right of article) Was it
because she was up for re-election in November of 2008?
PutnamLIVE.com wants to ask Schoen those questions, however,
she has not returned several messages left on her Capitol voice mail
system.
Ruckle says Schoen declines to disclose which hotel she is staying at. PutnamLIVE.com called several downtown Charleston hotels and was unable to locate a room booked in her name.
And how much money is Schoen charging the
state? The session isn't over-yet. However, Ruckle says delegates
have a $131 daily per-diem. And here's the interesting part-they
don't have to turn in hotel receipts. So the state does not know if
the delegates spend the entire $131 that they are given.
In fairness to Schoen, no one is accusing her of charging the state
more than she is spending. However, some may question how she can
march in parades last summer but not drive to Scott Depot at night.
The Michigan-native Schoen is the senior delegate for the 14th district. She was first elected to that office in 2002 and was re-elected in November of 2008.
PutnamLIVE.com will follow-up at the end of the session to publish a total of what Schoen has charged the State of West Virginia taxpayers.
