As Silly Scott Edwards completes his first week as Hurricane Mayor, it's time                                                      to take a hard look at what                                                 "His honor" really stands                                                      for vs. reality.

 

Silly Scotty says he wants                                                 what is good for everyone                                                      in Hurricane.

Reality shows that Silly Scotty will sacrifice long-term people and small businesses for a quick shot at big dollars.

 

Silly Scotty says he will run Hurricane like a business.

Reality shows Silly Scotty was singing the praises of his favorite bureaucrats during his first City Council meeting.

 

Silly Scotty and his Citizen's Party Council voted the council and mayor a raise.

Reality says in a real business you don't get to vote yourself a raise.

 

Silly Scotty claims to be a gentlemen.

Reality shows that real gentlemen don't have three wives.

 

Silly Scotty campaigned as a father of three.

Reality shows Silly Scotty only has one child.

 

Silly Scotty says Hurricane is not in the Real Estate business.

Reality shows Hurricane owns much of Main Street.

 

Silly Scotty has invited disgruntled citizens to sue the city.

Reality says that will likely cost the City of Hurricane a lot of money.

 

Silly Scotty believes that blowing up a wooded hillside and filling in a pond for a Wal-Mart is a great idea.

Reality proves that there were at least 10 better sites for the Wal-Mart in Putnam County including several in Hurricane. Silly Scotty is an environmental terrorist!

 

Silly Scotty believes A to Z Market is a viable sacrifice to bring in Wal-Mart.

Reality shows that A to Z Market has been a part of Hurricane longer than Silly Scotty and has more respect of the people.

 

Silly Scotty says the Wal-Mart construction site neighbors will be bought out by private enterprise.

Reality shows that they have been waiting for years to get suitable offers and are suffering during the Wal-Mart construction period.

 

Silly Scotty wants you to think he is a gentleman.

Reality shows that Silly Scotty dropped "F-bombs" in front of a group of children during his mayoral campaign.

 

Silly Scotty has no problem with long-term Hurricane residents being pushed out of town for a cheap department store.

Reality shows that quality people are the backbone of a community. You don't replace them with a super center.

 

Silly Scotty says that Wal-Mart is a great addition to Hurricane.

Reality says Silly Scotty just needs a place for his three wives and daughter to buy cheap shoes.

 

Silly Scotty says that one barking dog is excessive noise.

Reality says that a group of construction tractors easily drown out one barking dog.

 

Silly Scotty and the Putnam County Development Authority promised us a Marshall University campus when they bought what is now the Wal-Mart land.

Reality shows that Silly Scotty and the PCDA lied to us.

 

Silly Scotty says Wal-Mart will bring lots of jobs to Hurricane.

.Reality shows that Marshall pays their professors far more than Wal-Mart pays their cashiers. And Marshall isn't criticized for its management practices, failing to offer health insurance, and isn't sued regularly by its employees.

 

Silly Scotty things that we need a Wal-Mart.

Reality shows that everything Wal-Mart sells can already be purchased in Putnam County. What we really need is a university.

 

Silly Scotty wants you to believe that he is good for Hurricane.

Reality shows that Silly Scotty is good for the divorce attorney business.

 

Silly Scotty believes Hurricane needs him as Mayor.

You're so silly Scotty!
