That's the word from Detective David Campbell who says between 10-15 people have had more than $30,000 in unauthorized charges to their cards after eating at the Mi Pueblito restaurant.
PutnamLIVE.com told you about this story first, which is now being reported by other news outlets. Hours after we reported the story, HPD held a news conference reporting the scam.
It all started in January, Campbell says, and according to Chief of Police W. Mike Mullins, it keeps growing. Now HPD is expanding its investigation beyond the restaurant itself.
Charges have been made to Arizona, Texas, and Mexico City, Campbell confirms.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named. Campbell says the department wants to make sure it has an airtight case before making an arrest.
Meanwhile, Mi Pueblito stays open, with a steady stream of customers, most of which are paying cash.
If you know anything about these crimes you are asked to immediately call Hurricane Police at: 304-562-9911 during business hours. You may also call Putnam County Dispatch anytime at: 304-586-0273.
