On Thursday, January 14th, 2010, Logan made a long trip to play
Winfield in boys high
school basketball.

A capacity crowd
attended this rivalry,
with Winfield, Logan
and Poca fans in the
mix.

Noah Cottrill who originally played at Poca High School moved to Logan in August 2009 and is attending Logan High School. Many came out to see him play.

The game started with Winfield on fire!  In the first half Garron Kessler scored 20 points (5-3 pointers), Adam Kline added 11 points (4-assists) and Austin Lewis dished off 6 assists.   Cottrill kept his visiting team close with his accurate shooting. Winfield headed to the locker room at half time with a 45-33 lead.

In the second half, Cottrill and Paul Williamson led a strong Logan comeback to make the score 71-69 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter Lewis caught fire and scored 9 points. Williamson hit 2 free throws with Logan taking the lead 83-81 with 1:04 remaining in the game.

Winfield's center Kline fouled out of the game after leading the Generals with a strong inside post game. Lewis was fouled on a layup and went to the foul line and connected on 2 free throws tying the game 83-83 with 41.9 seconds remaining. Logan reacted by calling timeout, then Cottrill receives the ball, dribbles to the right corner, is trapped and makes a great pass to teammate Williamson at the rim that connects for 2 points, making the score 85-83 Logan. Then Logan connects on 2 free throws making the score 87-83, for a Logan victory.

Logan was led by Cottrill's 31 points (7-3 pointers). Williamson scored 26 points (3-3 pointers) and Deyonta Coleman scored 20 points.

Winfield was led by Kessler's 28 points (7-3 pointers), 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 assists.  Kline scored 22 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks and 5 assists.  Aaron Keefer scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.  Ricky Cantrell recorded 10 points, 2 rebounds, 1 charge and 3 assists.   Lewis scored 9 points, 2 rebounds and dished out a game high 9 assists.  Zach Gunter scored 2 points and 4 rebounds.  Cameron Powell recorded 3 assists.
