Nothing tastes better than free!
Earlier this week, we told you that Kentucky Fried Chicken was giving out free meals. We provided a link to an online coupon for a two-piece grilled chicken meal.
Now we get to tell you
that you must wait for
that free meal. In a
promotion that's going
to go down in history
with "New Coke," KFC
is now issuing "Rain
Checks" because it ran
out of free chicken-
nationwide.
Apparently some
genius in the KFC
Marketing Department
didn't count on people
wanting free food during a recession when millions of
people are out of work and millions more have taken pay cuts,
furloughs, or wage freezes.
KFC President Roger Eaton has issued the following apology, and Putnam County KFC Restaurants, in Hurricane and Teays Valley, assured PutnamLIVE.com that they will have enough free chicken to honor the coupons-after Mother's Day.
Here's the interesting part: The Putnam County
KFC's weren't actually out of free chicken. Friday evening they were
willing to sell the two-piece meal for $3.99. They just weren't
honoring the free coupon. When we asked to speak to a district
manager, we were told he wasn't in until next week. Is all of this
ethical? We'll let you decide.
