Cited For 25 Putnam Health Code Violations

For the second time this year, Shoney's, in Teays Valley, has                                      failed a Putnam County                              Health Department                                    kitchen inspection                                       report.

Shoney's was cited for                                  25 health code                                        violations during a                                      routine inspection                                     August 5th by Sanitarian Shannon Savage.

Thirteen of the violations were "Critical," according to the inspection report posted above this story.

 
The 13 "Critical" violations are:

  1. Food not covered in walk-in - covered.
     
  2. Cumbro pans not clean. - put to wash.
     
  3. Utensils not clean - put to wash.
     
  4. Utensil container not clean - cleaned.
     
  5. Muffin pans not clean - put to wash.
     
  6. Inside reach-in cooler not clean.
     
  7. Inside reach-in cooler not clean.
     
  8. Food out-of-temp on prep cooler by grill - disposed of.
     
  9. Food out-of-temp in henny penny - disposed of.
     
  10. Spoon holder not clean.
     
  11. Plates in plate freezer not clean - cleaned.
     
  12. Plate freezer not clean - cleaned.
     
  13. Food (cold) on buffet out-of-temp - disposed of.
     

All of the "Critical" violations were immediately corrected, according to the inspection report.

PutnamLIVE.com telephoned Shoney's and spoke to Sheila Williams, who signed the inspection report.

"They came in during our lunch buffet," says Williams. "We were in the middle of washing dishes and corrected the critical violations on the spot."
