IN THE KITCHEN...  Scott Depot Foodland
Cited For Three "Critical" Violations
By Mark Hallburn

Another one of Scott Depot's supermarkets failed to make the                                     grade during a recent                              Putnam County Health                   Department inspection.

Foodland, on Route 34,                                was cited for three                                "Critical" and seven                                    "Non-Critical"                                     violations for its retail section December 16th, during a routine visit, according to the reports posted above this story.

The "Critical" violations were:

  1. Unlabeled spray bottle in meat room.

  2. Produce cutting board not clean.

  3. Spray bottle in produce area not labeled.

The sanitarian, Barbara Koblinksy, did not close Foodland down, but did put it on a 10-day notice for re-inspection. She also noted her report to say "Store display cases in another location than produce prep area."

The Putnam County Health Department has not provided PutnamLIVE.com with the results of the 10-day re-inspection.

PutnamLIVE.com attempted to reach Roger Allen, of Foodland, (who signed the report) for comment. He was not at work when we called. However, he called back at a later date and says Foodland takes cleanliness very seriously. "Everything was corrected before the inspector left."

In addition, Allen says, "We spend thousands of dollars on maintenance every month."

Publisher's note: All inspections are provided by the Putnam County Health Department which chooses which facilities to inspect.
