GRITT NAMED GAMER OF THE WEEK
Press Release
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. is pleased to present this week’s "Gridiron Gamer of the Week" award to Bobby Gritt of Buffalo High School.
Two weeks ago, football was the last thing on the mind of Bobby Gritt. While traveling I-79 to a Glenville State football game, Bobby lost control of his vehicle and flipped five times in the median. Bobby was health netted to CMAC hospital due to bleeding from his head, but somebody was looking out for Bobby that day. Bobby was allowed to return to the field with almost no major injuries, showing that the Good Lord had been watching over him. The Buffalo Bison football team is glad that their friend is back with them. Bobby showed last week what a tremendous asset he is to the team. In a 30-6 win over Clarksburg Notre Dame, Bobby provided a spark that helped the Buffalo Bisons beat the number 8th ranked team in Class A. On Notre Dame’s opening drive, Bobby picked up a fumble in the backfield and returned it almost 60 yards for the Bison first touchdown. When asked about this play, Bobby said “The early touchdown really allowed me to get fired up. It seemed like everything rolled from there.” Later in the game, with Notre Dame almost back into their own end zone, Bobby picked off a pass from his defensive tackle position and returned it to the Bison 5 to set up another Buffalo touchdown. Assistant Coach Richie Wyant says, “Bobby is an awesome kid to have on your team. He comes out and plays hard and provides the leadership we need, and that is important in football.”
Bobby also excels in the classroom as well, carrying a 3.75 GPA. When asked about Buffalo’s remaining games, Bobby seemed excited about the Bison chances. “I feel like we picked up some momentum with this game, and we have four tough teams left. If we play hard and play how we know we can, I think we can get back in the playoffs, and hopefully earn a trip to Wheeling,” says Bobby. Coach Wyant agrees. “We have four tough games left, but I believe they are winnable games, and if we keep pushing hard and playing hard, we will have a chance to get back where we were last year,” says Coach Wyant.
Bobby’s play on the field reminds you of San Diego Charger’s linebacker Shawn Merriman. His tough nose style of play and excitement for playing are hard to match. Bobby says, “I like to watch him play. He is a “lights-out” type of player, and when he hits you, you know it.”
Look for Bobby and other local area high school athletes to be named next week’s Gridiron Gamer of the Week presented by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc.
