Debra Girimont, of Hurricane, announces that
she is a Republican
candidate for the West
Virginia House of
Delegates in the 14th
District representing
Putnam and Mason
Counties.
Girimont is a native
West Virginian and in
announcing her
candidacy says, “I can
bring a lot to the table
for the people of
Putnam and Mason
Counties. And unlike
either current delegate,
I was born and raised in West Virginia and I have that mountaineer
pride and determination ingrained in me.”
A former small business owner and 1975 graduate of West Virginia
University, Girimont is the daughter of the late Frank Girimont, a
lifelong coal miner, and Jennie Girimont, who resides in Hurricane.
“I have a lot of new ideas that can benefit the people of Putnam and
Mason Counties,” Girimont says. “Not enough has been done to improve
the lives of people of the district and it is a time for a change of
representation. I want to laser-focus my attention on the people,
not on personal or political agendas or furthering my career. I am a
candidate for the people.
“Although I want to hear
what issues are impacting our citizens,” Girimont adds, “I
want to concentrate on curbing crime, especially drugs, and improve
both police and fire protection. I want to concentrate on education,
healthcare and controlling utility costs to citizens. I have some
creative ideas on how to cut government waste and we need to turn
the economy around. All of this will take full-time dedication and
representation and I am the only candidate who can do that. I can
devote 100% of my time to the people and I don’t have all the
personal distractions that hinder one’s effectiveness.”
Girimont summarizes, “I have a vision for the state and for our
local communities that will include everyone and benefit everyone.
I am excited and I am energized. I truly hope everyone will see
that we need to start moving in the right direction and
support me in my campaign. I invite the voters to visit my web site
(www.WVDebra.com)
and see where I stand.”
