There is always electricity in the air when these two phenoms play. The adrenaline was flowing in both teams. The Generals was poised for some payback from the April 8th game when Buffalo came to General land and rolled away with a hard-fought 6 - 3 victory.
Not only were the teams fired up so were the fans. They where both enthusiastic and boisterous with green, and blue & gold proudly showing everywhere the eye could see.
Winfield jumped out to a 1 - 0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning but Buffalo promptly tied it up in their half of the 3rd inning.
Junior Tyler Bailey helped his own cause in the top of the 4th inning when he slammed a double and drove in a run to give Winfield a 3 - 1 lead. Buffalo answered with two runs of their own ( a two run Homer by sophomore Jared Tucker ) to tie the game up 3 - 3. At the end of the 4th inning things did not look good for Winfield with Buffalo having runners at 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. But Tyler Bailey got one Buffalo player to fly out and struck the last two out to end the inning.
Junior Tyler Farley whacked a triple driving in two runs in the top of the 3rd inning giving Winfield a 3 - 1 lead. Tyler Bailey had the game-winning RBI in the 5th inning and Winfield added an insurance run in the 7th inning.
Pitching for Buffalo was ace Jason Lewis who gave up four runs and struck out seven Generals batters in five innings. Jared Tucker finished out the last two innings for the Bison. Chris Belcher caught for the Bison.
On the mound for Winfield was Tyler Bailey who worked for 5 and 2/3 of a inning and also struck out seven. Finishing the game for Winfield was senior Caleb Ashley (who laid down a beautiful bunt single) Freshman Zachary (Tyler) Kincaid caught for Winfield.
Junior catcher Chris Belcher was 2-of-4 at the plate for The Bison. Senior Adam Wright was 3-of-4 hitting the ball with a double for Winfield.
