Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. is pleased to present this week’s “Gridiron Gamer of the Week” award to Steven Gaydosz of Winfield High School.
The Winfield Generals football team has a new look this year. With former Head Coach Bruce McGrew taking the Assistant Principle position, the Generals are under the leadership of Coach Willie Wilson for the first time.
Going into the second week of the season, the Generals were looking to turn their game around early to gain some momentum for later in the year. Winfield traveled to Lincoln County High School and pulled out a hard fought 38-20 victory.
Much of the Generals’ success had to do with the play of running back Steven Gaydosz. Steven ran for 165 yards on 10 carries. He also had touchdown runs of 55 yards and 46 yards.
When asked about the success of his team, Steven says, “The offensive line blocked really well. Everyone played hard and made sure they executed on their assignments which allowed us to pull out the victory.”
The Generals are now 1-1 on the season, with the needed momentum going into the remaining part of the year.
Steven has high expectations for his team. Gaydosz says, “Our goal is to win a few games. We have already lost one game, so obviously our goal is to go 9-1 and make the playoffs. We want to see how far we can go.” Steven not only excels on the field but off the field as well where he carries a 4.0 GPA.
Please look for Steven and other local area high school athletes to be named next week’s Gridiron Gamer of the Week sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc.
