Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. is
pleased to present this week’s
“Gridiron Gamer of the
Week” award to
Schulyer Frazier of
Buffalo High School.
The Buffalo Bison
football team has had
a slow start to the
2008 season. The Bison went out to a 1-3 record, but fought back to
have their current record at 3-3 going into this past week’s game
against Clay County. Buffalo, a single-A team, went into the game
as the underdog against the AA Clay Panthers. The Bison showed that
they were not scared of any school as they outscored the Panthers
25-0 in the first quarter, and cruised to an easy 44-20 victory on
the road.
Schulyer Frazier led the explosive attack with 3 catches for 144
yards. Each of those 3 receptions where also touchdowns. When
asked about his success, Schulyer said, “Our line did a good job.
Other receivers blocked well downfield and allowed me to get into
the end zone. Our defense played well, especially our linebackers,
and we came together and were able to get the win.” Head Coach Mike
Sawyer agrees with his receiver. “Schulyer had a good week. He has
had an up and down season due to some injuries, but he came out and
allowed us to jump on Clay County early. He has developed into a
fine all-around receiver this year,” says Coach Sawyer.
The Bison are not done with the 2008 season, and Schulyer hopes to
help his team get into the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year.
“We want to win out, which may allow us to jump high in the
standings and get us into the playoffs. There is also a chance we
might be able to play at home for the first game, which is what we
want to be able to do,” says Schulyer.
Head Coach Mike Sawyer concurs.
“We want to be able to play well at the end of the year. I don’t think our record right now is indicative of how good we are. We want to come out and play hard, take it one game at a time, and hopefully be in a position to get into the playoffs at the end of the year,” says Coach Sawyer.
Look for Schulyer and other local area high school athletes to be named next week’s Gridiron Gamer of the Week sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc.
