Members of the Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, in Hurricane donated their Saturday, on May 30th, for a food drive.
The church will donate the food to the Putnam County Community Cupboard, according to Pastor Jerry Kliner.
The Christian
Community Cupboard,
which is operated
under the direction of
the Teays Valley
Ministerial Association,
provides an emergency
three-day supply of
food and personal care
products to anyone
who meets federal
income guidelines and
lives south of the
Kanawha River in
Putnam County.
Applicants must disclose source of income and furnish proof of
residency.
Together, the cupboard and its supporters served 2,983 people during 2008.
A representative of each member church serves
on the board of directors.
Vital support is also provided by a variety of area businesses, fire
departments, individuals, churches, groups, organizations, and
schools, that contribute drives for food and other items.
Fifteen member churches collect non-perishable
food and monetary donations and recruit volunteers to staff the
facility each week.

The Christian Community Cupboard is located at 2843 Virginia Avenue, in Hurricane.
It is open from 10:00 a.m. until noon each Tuesday and Friday, unless school is cancelled due to inclement weather.
