For decades Ed Conner has toiled on Putnam County sidelines                                     shooting images of                                      local athletes in their                                    moments of glory, or                                taking wedding and                              equestrian pictures.

PutnamLIVE.com is                                   happy to tell you that                                 Conner has earned                                      some glory of his own.

Conner, owner of Ed Conner Photography, in Winfield, recently competed in the 75th Annual Print Competition at the Professional Photographers of West Virginia Annual Convention. The competition was held at Lakeview Resort in Morgantown, February 15th.

"This competition received over 160 entries from photographers all over the state, as well as many out-of-state entries," says Brent Kepner, Chairman of the PPWV Print Competition. "Categories for competition include portrait, wedding, commercial, pictorial, retouching and digital photography."

Wedding albums and folios were also judged during the competition.

Conner, a PPWV & PPA Certified & Master Photographer, was recognized for achievement in the following areas: Pictorial with a basketball image of Winfield's Todd Hutchinson from the 2007 West Virginia State Basketball Tournament, scoring an 82 - earning a blue ribbon and gold corner for excellence. Conner also won the Phillips-Rittenhouse Best News Photo Award Portraiture - with 4 images scoring 77-79 as above average earning red ribbons and gold corners for their professional abilities and creativity.

Also received his 5th gold bar to ad to his Certification Medallion for earning 25 merits for service, achievements, continuing education and contributions to Professional Photography.

The Professional Photographers of West Virginia and its members strive to enhance public awareness of professional photography through exhibits, trade shows, and programs to further their knowledge of new technology and the latest trends in photography.

Sports photography is a way of relaxation and enjoyment for the Winfield businessman.

"I've been actively pursuing photography since 12 years old, when I sold my first action image," says Conner. "That was 38 years ago.
I've been walking the sidelines of various Putnam Co School events for the last 25 years. I look at sports photography as a means to relax from the rigors of running a photography studio and dealing with the stress of business."

Conner has owned and operated Conner Photography since 1980, and has avidly pursued photography since 1969.

A 1977 Graduate of Chowan College with a degree in Photography, he studied Equine Photography under Harold Campton and Don Trout.
