COACH JONES IN CRITICAL CONDITION
College Player Devotes His Life To Area Kids
News release courtesy of Jeff Barnes

Kyle Jones, a successful collegiate baseball player and kind-                                   hearted mentor to                                  hundreds of area youth                               baseball players is                                fighting for his life at                       Charleston Area                                   Medical Center’s                                   General Division.                                       Jones sustained                                        injuries associated                                   with an accidental fall                                  at the home of a close                               friend last Thursday.

For the past two years                            Jones has been the                                  hitting instructor at All                                Bases Covered                                      Baseball Training                                Academy in Hurricane.                                  In addition, he is the                                     hitting coach at Poca Middle School.

Under his instruction, two area youth USSSA baseball teams, the age 10 and under West Virginia Storm and the age 11 and under West Virginia Titans, have been ranked in the top 10 in the United States, with the Titans winning a World Series tournament last July.

“Kyle has touched the lives of literally hundreds of area youth players trying to improve their skills in the game of baseball,” states Jeff Barnes, Manager of the West Virginia Storm. “He is loved and respected by both area youth coaches and players. I know I speak for each one of them when I say that we have Kyle in our thoughts and prayers every day.”

While a player at West Virginia State University in 2005 and 2006, he was named 1st Team All-American and in 2006 was the Collegiate Division 2 National Home Run Leader.

“He always told our young players to play with confidence,” says Joey Crouch, Manager of the West Virginia Titans. “I believe this message will carry over with all of our players both on and off the field in life.”

Concerned area residents have established the Kids for Kyle Fund to assist Kyle’s family with the cost of his healthcare. To contribute to this fund, donations may be dropped off All Bases Covered in Hurricane or at any Fifth Third Bank location or mailed to:
