Bank Will Have Branch Inside Supercenter

Customers of the new Wal-Mart in Hurricane will be able to do their banking in a
convenient one-stop-shop
environment.
City National Bank is
planning a branch inside
the new Wal-Mart
Supercenter which is
scheduled to open during
the late summer of 2007. The new branch is expected to create at least four new jobs.
Construction workers recently started clearing the site for the 184,000 square-foot supercenter with some work being started for infrastructure and the store's parking lot entrance.
The branch manager and staff have not been announced, but they will be supervised by longtime Putnam County resident Mandy Curry, Regional Manager for City National. Curry is based in the company's Scott Depot branch and recently moved from Rock Branch to Hurricane.
"We are excited about our expanding partnership with Wal-Mart," says City National Senior Vice President of Retail Tim Quinlan. "We have been very pleased with the performance of our first four Wal-Mart branches and now have two under development. While we already have one of the best branch banking networks in West Virginia, City National continues to look for opportunities to optimize customer convenience and accessibility. The Hurricane location will compliment our delivery system in the fast-growing Putnam County market."
The Hurricane branch will be City National's third in Putnam County. The bank has operated branches in Eleanor and Scott Depot for years.
City National Bank operates banking centers in Wal-Mart Supercenters in Barboursville, South Charleston, and Sophia, West Virginia, as well as Ashland, Kentucky.
"Our experience tells us customers appreciate the convenience of the Wal-Mart branches," adds Quinlan. "Wal-Mart has tremendous exposure and high traffic counts, which give us considerable opportunity for new checking and home equity relationships. The Hurricane location will also help us fill out our delivery channel in the important Putnam County."
City National will lease 650 square feet in the facility, providing full service banking that includes depository and loan services, according to Quinlan. The bank will also operate a 24-hour ATM giving customers quick-access to quick-cash, deposits and other transactions while they shop at Wal-Mart.
City Holding Company is the parent company of City National Bank of West Virginia. City National operates 67 branches across West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky and Southern Ohio.
