BISON'S CINDERELLA SEASON ENDS
Buffalo Falls To Wheeling Central In Final

The Cinderella season ends for Buffalo on biggest stage at                                    Appalachian Power                                        Park. Wheeling Central                                took the Single-A title                                  in the final game                                        played before a                                     estimated crowd of                                      about 700, May 31st.

In the game Wheeling                             Central's senior pitcher                               R.J. Miller struck out a                            season-high 16 Bison                            batters and worked                                 around five walks. He                                 also surrendered and                                    five hits and had three errors behind him, leading Wheeling Central ( 19 - 13 ) to an 11 - 4 victory against Buffalo ( 23 - 12 ) In the West Virginia Class A State Championship.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On the mound for Buffalo was senior Adam Scott Catching for Buffalo was junior Chris Belcher.

Wheeling Central had one of its best days at the plate this season as they banged out 14 hits-all singles.

They were led by senior Joey Seabright who had 3 hits and scored 3 times. And junior leadoff man Andrew Henry drove in 4 runs. Senior Josh Edwards had 2 hits scored 2 runs and drove in 2 runs. Junior Adam Parsons caught for The Maroon Knights.

The Maroon Knights started four seniors in their top nine Buffalo started only two in their starting nine. Wheeling had 33 players on their squad and The Bison only 14 on their squad.

Buffalo, who is the 2006 State Class A Champions, scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, when Junior 2nd baseman Garrett Burdette Doubled to rightfield. Then senior 3rd baseman Nick Harris ( will be playing in north - south football game ) drove Garrett in with a triple to left field and scored on an errant pickoff play.

The Bison added two more runs in the 7th inning off a two-run single by Garrett Burdette.

Having the big bat for Buffalo was Burdette who had two hits, including a double. He also drove in two runs.

Senior Nick Harris had a hit which was a big Triple and scored. Catcher Chris Belcher had a hit. Senior Adam Scott had a hit.

Helping the 2008 Buffalo ( 23 - 12 ) team overachieve was sophomore shortstop Jarrod Tucker, junior 1st baseman Nathan Winterstein, sophomore pitcher / center fielder Jason Lewis, sophomore left fielder Greg Rose. Freshman right fielder Cameron Jones, sophomore DH Cody Parkins, sophomore Corey Moore, freshman Charlie Cain, junior Joseph Meadows. junior Gabriel Cobb, and freshman Caleb Dunn.

The coaching staff that has helped head coach Jimmy Tribble so much - Bill Boggess, Ted Kuhn. Cody Thornton. and Bob Anthony.
