Super Bowl XXXXI will be in Miami, Fl, 6:00 p.m., on Sunday evening, February 4, 2007, via CBS-TV.
Churches, Sunday School Classes, Youth Groups, sports teams, organizations, friends and neighbors

will gather to enjoy the game as a group. For years Bob and Doris Cottrell have invited the Senior Citizens of our church, and those who simply cannot wait until they get to be at least 55, to their house for the Super Bowl Party. It is a most enjoyable evening with super hosts.
In Sports Spectrum’s 2007 Power to Win outreach kit there are terrific new films, magazines, posters and ideas to make your party bigger and better than ever! You can order all the things you need to put on your own spectacular halftime show from Sports Spectrum. The Power to Win DVD featuring Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander will be much better than anything you’ll see on the network’s halftime show. The DVD includes supporting interviews by Jim Zorn and other Seahawk players. It also features Christian music bands like MercyMe, Grits, Red, Warren Barfield and Charles Billinsley.

Some groups celebrating the Super Bowl set an admission price of at least one can of soup per person. Once they are all collected, they are given to families who need a helping hand. The cans of soup can be passed on to local missions, community cupboards, the Salvation Army and other helping organizations.
I wish each family in the nation received the glossy and beautiful full color Sports Spectrum Magazine. It is something every parent, student-athlete, coaches of all sports and churches would profit from reading. It is a 56-page magazine, the most attractive on the market, published every two months. I look forward to every issue. It’s power-packed 16-page insert is a bonus. You can subscribe by calling toll-free 1-866-821-2971.
As we approach Super Bowl Sunday it is time to look at more “Football Theology”. It may bring a smile to your face. A smile is good for your attitude, disposition and health.

Touchback -- the laying on of hands.
Draw Play -- what restless children do during a long sermon.
Face Mask -- smiling and saying everything is fine when it isn’t.
Fan Response -- saying “Amen” to the sermon.
Scalping Tickets -- people trying to buy their way into the kingdom of God.
Holding Penalty -- result of church members who believe nothing can be done about anything.
Fair Catch -- holding the offering plate in front of each member until money is placed in it.

Final Gun -- the benediction.
Super Bowl Champion -- a church doing the will of God.
St. Paul would have made a terrific sports writer. He knew about the sports of his day. He once wrote, “Run with patience the race that is set before us . . . Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Was he thinking about the marathons of ancient Greece? He was teaching us to be at our best in the greatest race of all -- the human race.
