ARTHUR NAMED GAMER OF THE WEEK
Press Release
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. is pleased to present this week’s "Gridiron Gamer of the Week" award to Caleb Arthur of Poca High School.
The Poca Dots football team is having a tremendous season this year. Head coach Bob Lemley has his team poised on the verge of another West Virginia state championship run, currently sitting at 6-1 with 3 games left to play in the regular season. Much of their winning streak has to do with the play of freshman running back/defensive back Caleb Arthur. Last week, in a 27-14 win over Winfield, Caleb showed his defensive prowess as he intercepted 3 passes in the win. Caleb also showed his versatility as he took a handoff over the left side, duped one defender, and cut back all the way across the field for a long touchdown run. When asked about his success, Caleb says, “I worked hard all year, and tried to let the game come to me, and it did.” Head Coach Lemley agrees. “Caleb doesn’t play like a freshman. He still makes mistakes, but he is improving each and every game. He is going to be a tremendous player and force in the future.” When asked about the team’s success, Caleb says, "The line came out and knew what they had to do, and they accomplished it. We saw the holes and made our cuts, and tried to make plays happen."
When asked about Caleb’s character off the field, Coach Lemley says, "Caleb is a very competitive player. He wants to win, and he will do it at all cost. He is also very coachable, and I like that in him." When asked about the rest of the season and the post-season Coach Lemley says, "We have a tough schedule for the next three games with Wayne, Sissonville, and Hurricane. We hope to win some if not all of those games and have a good run going into the post-season, where we will take it one game at a time from there." Caleb agrees with his coach. "We hope to do well for the rest of the season, and then play well in the playoffs and hopefully advance each and every week."
Head Coach Lemley compares his star running back to New Orleans Saints’ running back and last years Heisman trophy winner Reggie Bush. "Caleb can not only run the ball, but he also catches the ball well in the backfield. His speed and agility remind me of Reggie Bush," says Coach Lemley. Caleb compares himself to San Diego Chargers' "Mr. Everything" Ladanian Tomlinson. Caleb says, "I like to compare my style to L.T. He is very fast, very quick, and he does what he can for his team, whether it is catch the ball or run the ball."
Look for Caleb and other local area high school athletes to be named next week’s Gridiron Gamer of the Week sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc.
