ARTHUR GAMER OF THE WEEK
Poca Dots Gridder Honored
Press Release

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. is pleased to present this week’s “Gridiron Gamer of the Week” award to Caleb Arthur of Poca High School.

The Poca Dots football team is looking to continue their success from last season.  In 2006 the Dots went back to the playoffs after winning three state championship titles from 2001-2003, before losing to the eventual State Champion Wayne High School.  This year the Dots worked hard in the off season, and sat a record of 1-2 going into last weeks game against Chapmanville.  The Dots had lost to Nitro and Logan, and this was a must win game.  Sophomore running back Caleb Arthur stepped up to the challenge, when he scored three touchdowns in leading his team to a 28-14 victory over Chapmanville.  Caleb rushed for 150 yards on 18 carries, and also played sound defense in the game.

When asked about his success, Caleb says, “The team came together and played hard.  I wanted to come out and get the ball and make some plays.  My team enabled that to happen.”  Assistant Coach Brad Knell agrees.  “Caleb has worked hard through the season, and he showed it the other night.  His play was outstanding, and it gave us a boost to winning the game,” said Coach Knell.  Caleb helped improve Poca’s record of 2/2, at almost the midway point in the season.  Assistant Coach Brad Knell says, “Anytime you lose to a conference opponent like Logan, it hurts, but we can bounce back from that and have a good season.”  Caleb agrees with his coach. “We just wanted to come back this week and show that Logan was a mistake by us, and we don’t want it to happen again.  We want to show we can win the rest of these games, and hopefully meet up with Wayne again in the post-season and beat them on route to a State Championship”, says Caleb.  Caleb not only excels on the field, but off the field as well.  Coach Knell says, “Caleb is an excellent student.  He is a good kid, well liked, and an easily coached young man.”  Caleb carries a 3.8 GPA in the classroom.

Look for Caleb and other local area high school athletes to be named next week’s Gridiron Gamer of the Week sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc.
