Tyler Allen, a junior, has stepped up his game recently which has helped the basketball team tremendously. He is a tall post-player that picks up a lot of rebounds and works hard underneath the basket. He had two great games last week. Against Hannon, he scored 16 points had 16 rebounds and against South Gallia he had 23 points and 14 rebounds.
The Buffalo boys' team, just like the girls' team, is getting hot at the right time of year. When asked what Tyler expected for the rest of the season, Tyler said, "I plan on winning as many games as we can, and I plan on doing anything it takes to do that."
Tyler also gives praise for his success to his team. He said, "We had good practices all week, but the main key was what my team did. They made good passes, they fed the ball to me inside, and I had open looks."
The Bison girls' basketball team has really started to pick it up toward the end of the season. Last week, they won all three of their games. This team is coming together at the right time of the year and includes important wins against Elk Valley Christian and Hannon.
A lot of the success from this past week and throughout the season can be greatly attributed to sophomore standout Hannah Boyer, who is currently averaging a double/double for the season. She is an all-around player. She defends, shoots the ball, rebounds, and anything else it takes for her team to win. In last weeks' game against Elk Valley Christian she had 24 points and 10 rebounds and versus Hannon she had 23 points and 13 rebounds.
When asked why she thought she was successful last week she stated, "My coach has pushed me a lot. I didn't play last year and he has really helped me improve my game and step up and be a leader."
When asked why she thought the team was successful last week she said, "We are starting to gel at the right time of year. We are working together, making better decisions, and overall playing better basketball."
Please look for Tyler, Hannah, and other local area high school athletes to be named next week's Teays Physical Therapy Center's "Cagers of the Week."
